ibn Nayyār al-Anṣārī heard from Sahl ibn Abī Ḥathmah. Khabīb ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān heard from him, and no one besides Ibn Ḥibbān authenticated him. Thus, he is also unknown. The two associated with them, Salīm ibn Rabāḥ and Zakarīyā ibn Isḥāq, are also unknown to me. The second of them could possibly be Zakarīyā ibn Isḥāq al-Makkī, who narrates from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār and his contemporaries and is trustworthy, but he did not hear from the Companions, so it is disconnected. As for al-Ḥusayn ibn al-Rammās, Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (1/2/52): "He narrated from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Masʿūd. Al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad al-Marwadhī narrated from him." (1) Nothing else was mentioned about him, so he is unknown, and therefore al-Dhahabī said in "al-Talkhīṣ": "I said: Its chain is weak." However, al-Ḥākim has another chain through Sulaymān ibn Qurram from al-Aʿmash from Shaqīq, who said: "A companion and I entered upon Salmān (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu), and he brought us bread and salt. He said: If it were not that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade us from affectation, I would have prepared something for you. My companion said: If only there were thyme in our salt. So he sent his water jug to the grocer and pawned it, then brought thyme and added it. When we ate, my companion said: Praise be to Allāh who satisfied us with what He provided us! Salmān said: If you were satisfied with what you were provided, my water jug would not be pawned at the grocer!" He said: "The chain is authentic," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: There is a consideration, for Sulaymān ibn Qurram, although they have symbolized him as one of the men of the two Shaykhs, has been weakened by a group, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "He has poor memory."
