I said: This isnād consists of trustworthy men—except for a weakness in ʿAlī ibn ʿĀṣim—other than ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd al-Saʿdī, who is only known through this narration, and Ibn Ḥibbān has declared him trustworthy (7/13). The ḥadīth is authentic, as it has many supporting narrations from a group of Companions: 1 - From ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade the milk of the animal that eats filth, eating the animal that is tied and shot at, and drinking directly from the mouth of a water skin. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/134), al-Nasāʾī (2/210), al-Tirmidhī (1826), al-Dārimī (2/83 and 89), Ibn Khuzaymah (1/256/1), Ibn Ḥibbān (1363), al-Ḥākim (1/445), and al-Bayhaqī (9/334) with this wording, and by Aḥmad (1/226, 241, 293, 321, 339) through various chains from Qatādah from ʿIkrimah from him with it, except that Abū Dāwūd said "riding" instead of "milk," and al-Ḥākim did not mention them and declared it authentic, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." I said: It is according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī, and he has extracted the last part of it, and its extraction has been previously mentioned (399). 2 - From Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) forbade snatching, the animal that is tied and shot at, looting, and eating every predatory animal with fangs. It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/85) and al-Bayhaqī from Abū Uways, the cousin of Mālik ibn Anas, from al-Zuhrī from Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī from him. I said: Its isnād is ḥasan and it is according to the criteria of Muslim, and Abū Uways's name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Uways
