"do not cover the walls." Abū Dāwūd also recorded it, except that he did not name the narrator from Muḥammad ibn Kaʿb. I have discussed it in "Ḍaʿīf Abī Dāwūd" (262), and some have named him as I have clarified in my commentary on "al-Mishkāt" (2243). I say: Due to what has been mentioned, I lean towards strengthening the ḥadīth. And Allāh knows best.

- "He forbade a man from sitting between two men except with their permission." It was narrated by Abū al-Ḥasan al-Sukrī al-Ḥarbī in the second of "al-Fawāʾid" (159/2) and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (3/232) from ʿĀmir al-Aḥwal from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb from his father from his grandfather, raised [to the Prophet]. It was also narrated by Abū ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mandah in "al-Amālī" (40/1) and Abū al-Qāsim al-Ḥalabī al-Sarrāj in "Ḥadīth ibn al-Saqāʾ" (7/82/1). I said: This is a good isnād, despite the well-known disagreement regarding ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, as well as ʿĀmir, who is ʿĀmir ibn ʿAbd al-Wāḥid al-Aḥwal al-Baṣrī. Muslim used him as evidence, and al-Manāwī deemed it good, saying: "It is disliked to sit without their permission as a matter of propriety, and the dislike is stronger between, for example, a father and his son, a brother and his brother, or a friend and his friend."
