so he freed him. He said: What did you do? He replied: You instructed me to treat him well, so I freed him." I said: This isnād is good; its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for Abū Ghālib, who is a companion of Abū Umāmah and is criticized, but his ḥadīth does not fall below the rank of ḥasan. It has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah, raised with the wording: "I have been forbidden from killing those who pray." It was recorded by Abū Yaʿlá in his "Musnad" (4/1455) and others; see "al-Mishkāt" (4481). And from ʿUmar ibn Abī Salamah from his father, mursal. It was narrated by al-Ṭaḥāwī in "Mushkil al-Āthār" (1/196) in the story of the hunger of the Prophet ﷺ, Abū Bakr, and ʿUmar, and their coming to the house of Abū al-Haytham, and his giving him a servant from the captives, in which he says: "Take this and treat him well for I saw him praying, and I have been forbidden from [harming] those who pray."

- "We have been forbidden from speaking during prayer except with the Qurʾān and remembrance." It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (3/65/1) from Muḥammad ibn Shuʿayb who informed us from Ibn Jābir who informed me from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd from his father from his grandfather "that he used to greet the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ while he was praying, and he would respond, then he greeted him while he was praying, and he did not respond, so ʿAbd Allāh thought that it was due to some displeasure from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. When he finished, he said: O Messenger of Allāh! I used to greet you while you were praying and you would respond to me, then I greeted you, and you did not respond to me, so I thought that it was due to some displeasure towards me. He said: No, but we have been forbidden..." I said: This isnād has trustworthy narrators, except for ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, for I did not find anyone who mentioned him, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd is a well-known trustworthy narrator from the narrators of the two Shaykhs, and they mentioned in his biography that his sons al-Qāsim and Maʿn narrated from him
