indeed, the ḥadīth is strong due to its many supporting evidences regarding the expiation of a believer's sins through trials and illnesses, which are well-known. Among them is the ḥadīth of Muṣʿab, the brother of ʿĀmir, ibn Saʿd from his father, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording: "... so the trial does not cease from the servant until it leaves him walking on the earth without any sin." Its extraction has already been mentioned under number (143).

"A person is in prayer as long as he waits for it." It was recorded by ʿAbd ibn Ḥumayd in "al-Muntakhab min al-Musnad" (p. 137/1 - Maktabah copy) from Ḥammād ibn Shuʿayb al-Ḥammānī from Abū al-Zubayr from Jābir, raised [to the Prophet]. I said: This isnād is weak. Abū al-Zubayr is a mudallis, and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah. Ḥammād is weak; Ibn Maʿīn and others have declared him weak, and Ibn ʿAdī said: "Most of his ḥadīth are not corroborated." I said: But this has been corroborated, as Ibn Lahīʿah said: Abū al-Zubayr narrated to us, saying: I asked Jābir: Did you hear the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "A man is in prayer as long as he waits for the prayer"? He said: We waited for the Prophet ﷺ one night for the ʿIshāʾ prayer, and he delayed coming to us until it was nearly halfway through the night, or it reached that point. Then the Prophet ﷺ came, and we prayed. Then he said: Sit down, and he addressed us, saying: "The people have prayed and slept, but you have remained in prayer as long as you waited for the prayer." Its narrators are trustworthy, except that Ibn Lahīʿah has poor memory. However, he has been corroborated, as Imām Aḥmad said (3/367): Abū al-Jawāb narrated to us, saying: ʿAmmār ibn Ruzayq narrated to us
