and this has been connected by Muslim (2/165) and al-Bayhaqī (2/486-487) from her. It was narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (2/273) from Abū Salamah as mursal. Its chain is authentic.

"The place of the lower garment is to the middle of the shins and the muscle. If you refuse, then below the shins, and there is no right for the ankles in the lower garment." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (1784), al-Nasāʾī (2/99), Ibn Mājah (2/371), Ibn Ḥibbān (1447), and Aḥmad (5/382, 396, 398, 400) through various chains from Abū Isḥāq from Muslim ibn Nudhār from Ḥudhayfah as marfūʿ. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ, narrated by al-Thawrī and Shuʿbah from Abū Isḥāq." I say: It is as he said, and both of them narrated from him before his memory changed, and Shuʿbah only narrates from him what he explicitly stated as a report, as mentioned in his biography, so by his narration from him, we are safe from the suspicion of his tadlīs, and all praise is due to Allāh for His guidance. It has a brief supporting narration, from the report of Salām ibn Abī Muṭīʿ from Qatādah from al-Ḥasan from Samurah as marfūʿ with the wording: "The place of the lower garment is the middle of the shins, and there is no right for the lower garment in the ankles." It was recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (6/191), and he said: "It is rare from the ḥadīth of Qatādah and Salām." I say: Salām is trustworthy, but in his narration from Qatādah specifically, he is weak, as the ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb."
