It was narrated by Ibn Mājah (2141), al-Ḥākim (2/3), and Aḥmad (5/272 and 381) through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sulaymān ibn Abī Salamah, who heard from Muʿādh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khabīb from his father from his uncle, who said: "We were in a gathering, and the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) came with traces of water on his head. Some of us said to him: 'We see you in good spirits today.' He replied: 'Yes, and all praise is due to Allāh.' Then the people began discussing wealth, and he said: 'and mentioned it.'"
