and Shurayk—who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Qāḍī—is weak due to his poor memory. However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Abū Rāfiʿ, al-Sharīd ibn Suwayd, and Samurah, which are cited in "al-Irwāʾ" (1538 and 1539).

"Whoever lies about a dream will be tasked on the Day of Resurrection with tying a grain of barley." It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2282), al-Dārimī (2/125), al-Ḥākim (4/392), Aḥmad (1/76, 90, 91), and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad (131) through various chains from ʿAbd al-Aʿlá ibn ʿĀmir from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ḥadīth." Al-Ḥākim said: "Ṣaḥīḥ isnād"! Al-Dhahabī refuted this by saying: "I say: ʿAbd al-Aʿlá was weakened by Abū Zurʿah." Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful, but makes mistakes." He said in "al-Fatḥ" (12/359): "Its isnād is ḥasan, and al-Ḥākim authenticated it, but it is from the narration of ʿAbd al-Aʿlá ibn ʿĀmir, who was weakened by Abū Zurʿah." I say: What indicates his weakness and poor memory is his inconsistency in the text of this ḥadīth, and this is evident in several aspects: the first is this
