Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah narrated to me, saying: I was with Maʿqil al-Muzanī, and he removed something harmful from the road. I saw something and hastened to remove it. He said: What prompted you to do what you did, my nephew? I said: I saw you doing something, so I did it. He said: You have done well, my nephew! I heard the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "Whoever removes something harmful from the path of the Muslims, a good deed is written for him, and whoever has a good deed accepted will enter Paradise." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (593) and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr," except that he said: "al-Mustanīr ibn al-Akhdar ibn Muʿāwiyah from his father said: I was with Maʿqil ibn Yasār..." etc. Thus, he made it a narration from al-Mustanīr from his father, not from his narration from Muʿāwiyah ibn Qurrah, who is his grandfather, as in al-Bukhārī. Al-Haythamī said: "al-Mizzī said: (The correct version is as narrated by al-Bukhārī)." If it is as al-Mizzī said, then its isnād is good, if Allāh wills. However, if it includes (from his father Akhḍar), I did not find anyone who mentioned (Akhḍar). And Allāh knows best. I say: it is not good because al-Mustanīr ibn Akhḍar was not deemed reliable by anyone. Rather, Ibn al-Madīnī said: "Unknown, I do not know him." Yes, if it were said: it is good due to the previous narration, it would not be far-fetched, especially since there is another supporting narration reported by Abū Shaybah al-Mahri, who said: Muʿādh was walking with a man, and he lifted a stone from the road. He said: What is this? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: "Whoever lifts a stone from the road, a good deed is written for him, and whoever has a good deed will enter Paradise." He said
