It was recorded by Aḥmad (1/183), Abū Yaʿlá (1/206), al-Ṭabarānī also, and al-Ḍiyāʾ (1/345) through the route of Isrāʾīl from Abū Isḥāq also from him. Abū Isḥāq is known for tadlīs and his memory issues. However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as this statement has a corroboration from the ḥadīth of Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī with al-Shaykhayn and others, and it is referenced in "al-Irwāʾ" (2089). What precedes it has a corroboration from the ḥadīth of Ibn Masʿūd with al-Bukhārī and Muslim (1/58).
"Whoever loves that his record pleases him, let him increase in seeking forgiveness." It was recorded by al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (1/297) through the route of al-Ṭabarānī: narrated to us by Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá al-Ḥalwānī, narrated to us by ʿAtīq ibn Yaḥyá al-Zubayrī, narrated to us by the sons of al-Mundhir, ʿUbayd Allāh and Muḥammad, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām as marfūʿ. Al-Ṭabarānī said: "It is not narrated from al-Zubayr except through this isnād, and ʿAtīq ibn Yaʿqūb is the sole narrator of it." I said: Muḥammad ibn al-Mundhir - who is the son of al-Zubayr ibn al-ʿAwwām - was mentioned by Ibn Abī Ḥātim (4/1/97) as well as al-Bukhārī (1/1/243) and Ibn Ḥibbān in "Thiqāt" (7/405) from the narration of Fulaḥ ibn Muḥammad from him from his father. No additional information was given. Thus, his status is unknown due to ʿAtīq also narrating from him. However, Ibn Ḥibbān also mentioned him elsewhere (7/437) from his narration from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, and from him Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mundhir al-Ḥizāmī, and he was given the kunya Abū Zayd, and said: "He sometimes erred." His brother ʿUbayd Allāh corroborated him as you see, but I did not find anyone mentioning him except Ibn Ḥibbān in "Thiqāt" (7/152) through the narration of this ʿAtīq only from him. And ʿAtīq ibn Yaḥyá, as it is in the original, is an error, and the correct name is: ibn Yaʿqūb as in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (3/2/46) and "al-Lisān," and Aḥmad ibn Yaḥyá was mentioned among those who narrated from him
