it was recorded by Aḥmad (4/216-217) and al-Ḥākim (4/478) who said: "Its isnād is authentic." However, al-Dhahabī refuted this by stating that the preserved narration is only from ʿAlī ibn Zayd ibn Judʿān alone, meaning he is weak. In this chapter, there are other ḥadīths explicitly stating that the imam behind whom ʿĪsá (peace be upon him) will pray is none other than the Mahdī. You can find them in "al-ʿUrf al-Wardī" by al-Suyūṭī (pp. 81, 83, 84), and the ḥadīth of Jābir has been mentioned recently (2236).
