It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2873), al-Ṭayālisī (2/197), Aḥmad (3/130 and 143), Ibn ʿAdī (74/1), Ibn al-Ḍurays in "Aḥādīth Muslim ibn Ibrāhīm al-Farāhīdī" (6/1), al-Rāmahurmuzī in "al-Muḥaddith al-Fāṣil" (p. 83 - Ẓāhiriyyah), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Zuhd al-Kabīr" (fol. 46/1) through various chains from him. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth from this perspective." I said: And Ḥammād ibn Yaḥyá is truthful but makes mistakes, as mentioned in "al-Taqrīb," so his ḥadīth is at least ḥasan due to other supporting narrations. He was followed by Hudbah ibn Khālid, who reported from ʿUbayd ibn Muslim al-Sābarī from Thābit. And Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥamzah ibn Anas reported from Ḥammād ibn Salamah from Thābit with it. Both were recorded by al-Rāmahurmuzī in "al-Amthāl" (82/2). And this al-Sābarī was declared trustworthy by Ibn Ḥibbān, and three trustworthy narrators reported from him, as previously explained under ḥadīth (2284), so the chain is good. As for Ibrāhīm ibn Ḥamzah ibn Anas, I do not know him. Thus, the ḥadīth through these chains from Thābit is authentic. The second: from Muḥammad ibn al-Mughīrah, known as Ḥamdān al-Sukkarī: reported to us by Hishām ibn ʿUbayd Allāh al-Rāzī from Mālik ibn Anas from al-Zuhrī from him. It was recorded by al-Salafī in "Muʿjam al-Safar" (212/1), Ibn ʿAsākir in "al-Tārīkh" (12/221/1), and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Muntaqá min Masmūʿātihi bi-Marw" (91/1). And this al-Rāzī was said by Abū Ḥātim: "Truthful." And Ibn Ḥibbān said:
