and he was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Numayr, al-ʿAjlī, and Ibn Ḥibbān (4/363), while Ibn Maʿīn alone weakened him! Thus, the statement of al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful but has some weakness" itself has some weakness! al-Munāwī was misled by this, as he said in "al-Taysīr": "Its isnād has some weakness"! And he also criticized it in "al-Fayḍ" due to Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyāsh! He was unaware that his ḥadīth from the people of al-Shām are authentic, and this is one of them, for al-Khawlānī is from al-Shām.

- "There is no ruler except that he has two entourages: an entourage that commands him to do good and forbids him from evil, and an entourage that does not refrain from causing him harm. Whoever is protected from its evil is indeed protected, and he is from the one that prevails over him from the two." It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī (2/186-187), al-Ṭaḥāwī (3/22-23), and al-Bukhārī in a suspended form (4/401), and Aḥmad (2/237 and 289) from al-Zuhrī who said: Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to me from Abū Hurayrah who said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs. ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr followed him in narrating from Abū Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān with it, and there is a story in it. It was narrated by al-Tirmidhī (2/58-59) who said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ gharīb ḥadīth." This corroboration along with the story and its detailed extraction has been previously mentioned under number (1641).
