is far greater—by an immeasurable degree—than the joy in weddings and ʿĪds. Therefore, this ruling remains specific to him (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), and cannot be analogized to others, as it would be like comparing blacksmiths to angels, as some say. A similar combination has been mentioned by Imām al-Khaṭṭābī in "Maʿālim al-Sunan," and the scholar Ṣiddīq Ḥasan Khān in "al-Rawḍah al-Nadiyyah" (2/177-178).

- "Whatever alliances existed in the pre-Islamic period, adhere to them, and there is no alliance in Islam." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/61) through two chains from Mughīrah from his father from Shuʿbah ibn al-Tuʾam from Qays ibn ʿĀṣim from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). I say: This isnād is good; its men are trustworthy, the men of al-Bukhārī, except for Shuʿbah ibn al-Tuʾam, and a group of trustworthy narrators have reported from him. Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt" and included this ḥadīth in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" in a summarized form (2060 - Mawārid). Mughīrah is Ibn Miqsam ibn Bujrah. There is a corroborating narration from the ḥadīth of Jubayr ibn Muṭʿim, raised similarly without the phrase: "adhere to them." It was recorded by Muslim (7/183), Aḥmad (4/83), and others. Another from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, similar, and it includes: "And fulfill the alliances of the pre-Islamic period." It was recorded by Ibn Khuzaymah (232/1) and Aḥmad (2/212-213).
