"And what is the path of Allāh except for those who are killed? Whoever strives for his parents is in the path of Allāh, and whoever strives for his family is in the path of Allāh (and whoever strives for himself to maintain his dignity is in the path of Allāh), and whoever strives to boast is in the path of the false deity, and in another narration: the path of Satan." It was recorded by al-Bazzār (1871 - al-Kashf), Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (6/196-197), al-Aṣbahānī in "al-Targhīb wa-al-Tarhīb" (folio 47/2 - 48/1 - Islamic University Second Edition), and al-Bayhaqī in "al-Sunan" (9/25) through various chains from Aḥmad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūnus who reported from Riyāḥ ibn ʿAmr, who reported from Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī, from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah who said: While we were with the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), a young man appeared from the mountain pass. When we saw him, we fixed our gaze on him and said: If only this young man would dedicate his youth, energy, and strength in the path of Allāh! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) heard our statement and said: and he mentioned it. The context is from Abū Nuʿaym and the addition is from al-Aṣbahānī. I say: Its chain is good, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, except for Riyāḥ ibn ʿAmr - who is al-Qaysī - and he is truthful as Abū Zurʿah said. And it is mentioned in "al-Majmaʿ" (8/144): "It was narrated by al-Bazzār and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" and it includes Rabāḥ ibn ʿAmr whom Abū Ḥātim declared trustworthy, while others weakened him, and the rest of its narrators are those of the authentic collections." Thus, it appeared as "Rabāḥ" with a bāʾ, but the correct version is (Riyāḥ) with a yāʾ and (ibn ʿAmr)
" وما سبيل الله إلا من قتل؟! من سعى على والديه ففي سبيل الله ومن سعى على عياله ففي سبيل الله (ومن سعى على نفسه ليعفها فهو في سبيل الله) ومن سعى مكاثرا ففي سبيل الطاغوت وفي رواية: سبيل الشيطان ". أخرجه البزار (١٨٧١ - الكشف) وأبو نعيم في " الحلية " (٦ / ١٩٦ - ١٩٧) والأصبهاني في " الترغيب والترهيب " (ق ٤٧ / ٢ - ٤٨ / ١ - مصور الجامعة الإسلامية الثانية) والبيهقي في " السنن " (٩ / ٢٥) من طرق عن أحمد بن عبد الله بن يونس حدثنا رياح بن عمرو حدثنا أيوب السختياني عن محمد بن سيرين عن أبي هريرة قال: بينا نحن مع رسول الله ﷺ إذ طلع شاب من الثنية، فلما رأيناه رميناه بأبصارنا، فقلنا: لو أن هذا الشاب جعل شبابه ونشاطه وقوته في سبيل الله! فسمع رسول الله ﷺ مقالتنا فقال: فذكره. والسياق لأبي نعيم والزيادة للأصبهاني. قلت: وإسناده جيد، رجاله ثقات رجال الشيخين، غير رياح بن عمرو - وهو القيسي - وهو صدوق كما قال أبو زرعة. وقال في " المجمع " (٨ / ١٤٤) : " رواه البزار والطبراني في " الأوسط " وفيه رباح بن عمر وثقه أبو حاتم وضعفه غيره وبقية رجاله رجال الصحيح ". كذا وقع فيه: " رباح " بالموحدة، والصواب: (رياح) بالمثناة التحتية و (ابن عمر)
