It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī. It is clear that this ḥadīth is independent of that one, and it cannot be considered in any way as an explanation of it, even if it were authentic. How much more so when it is fabricated, as I have explained in "al-Aḥādīth al-Ḍaʿīfah" (5145)?

"There is no soul on earth that dies and has any good with Allāh, wishing to return to you and have the world, except the one killed (in the way of Allāh), for he wishes to return and be killed again." It was recorded by al-Nasāʾī (2/62) and Aḥmad (5/318, 322) through two chains from Kathīr ibn Murrah that ʿUbādah ibn al-Ṣāmit narrated to them that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said it, and he mentioned it. I say: The isnād of al-Nasāʾī is good, and likewise the isnād of Aḥmad would be if Ibn Jurayj had explicitly stated the transmission, but it serves as corroboration for the previous one. (Note): Al-Suyūṭī included the ḥadīth with the aforementioned narrators with an addition at the end "because of what he sees of Allāh's reward for him." This addition is not with them as we mentioned, and he attributed it in "al-Jāmiʿ al-Kabīr" to Ibn Abī al-Dunyā also in "Dhikr al-Mawt" and al-Rūyānī and al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and al-Ḍiyāʾ al-Maqdisī from ʿUbādah, so perhaps it is with one of them. I have found a corroborating narration from Anas, raised [to the Prophet], with the wording: "There is no soul that dies and enters Paradise wishing to return to you and have the world and what is in it except the martyr, for he wishes he were killed such and such times, because of what he sees of the reward." It was recorded by al-Dārimī (2/206) with an authentic isnād according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs, and they have also recorded it with its meaning.
