it has a story. Then Bilāl gave the call to prayer, and they prayed the two units before dawn, then they prayed the dawn prayer. Some of them said to each other: We have been negligent in our prayer. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: (He mentioned it). We said: O Messenger of Allāh! We have been negligent in our prayer. He said: There is no negligence in sleep; negligence is only in wakefulness. If that happens, then pray it, and on the next day at its time. Then he said: Be considerate of the people. They said: You said yesterday: If you do not reach the water tomorrow, you will be thirsty, and the people are at the water. He said: The people woke up and found that their Prophet was missing. Some of them said to each other: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) is at the water. Among the people were Abū Bakr and ʿUmar, and they said: O people! The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would not precede you to the water and leave you behind. If the people obey Abū Bakr and ʿUmar, they will be guided. He said it three times. When the midday heat intensified, the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) appeared to them. They said: O Messenger of Allāh! We are perishing from thirst; our necks are breaking. He said: There is no destruction upon you. Then he said: O Abū Qatādah! Bring the water vessel. So I brought it to him. He said: Untie my cup, meaning his drinking vessel. So I untied it and brought it to him. He began to pour from it and give the people to drink. The people crowded around him. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: O people! Fill your vessels well, for all of you will leave satisfied. The people drank until only I and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) remained. He poured for me. He said: Drink, O Abū Qatādah! I said: You drink, O Messenger of Allāh! He said: The one who serves the people drinks last. So I drank, and he drank after me, and there remained in the water vessel about what was originally in it. They were three hundred that day. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim, and he included it in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" except for the part of the witness, and it is narrated by Aḥmad.
