"and Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān was among the reliable and proficient narrators in transmissions, except that he inclined towards the Ahl al-Bayt, but he was not an advocate of his sect. There is no disagreement among the scholars of ḥadīth from our leaders that if a trustworthy and proficient narrator has an innovation but does not call to it, then using his reports as evidence is permissible." Moreover, the ḥadīth has been transmitted separately through other chains that do not include a Shīʿī. As for his statement: "ʿAlī is from me and I am from him," it is confirmed in "Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī" (2699) from the ḥadīth of al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib in the story of the dispute between ʿAlī, Zayd, and Jaʿfar over the daughter of Ḥamzah, where the Prophet ﷺ said to ʿAlī (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu): "You are from me and I am from you." It is also narrated from the ḥadīth of Ḥubshī ibn Janādah, and its documentation has been previously mentioned under ḥadīth (1980). As for his statement: "He is the guardian of every believer after me," it has been narrated from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās. Al-Ṭayālisī (2752) said: Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us from Abū Balj from ʿAmr ibn Maymūn from him that "the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said to ʿAlī: 'You are the guardian of every believer after me.'" Aḥmad also recorded it (1/330-331) and through his chain, al-Ḥākim (3/132-133) said: "It has a sound isnād," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said. It is similar in meaning to his ﷺ statement: "Whomever I am his master, ʿAlī is his master..." and it has been authenticated through various chains as previously explained in volume four, number (1750). It is truly astonishing that Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah would dare to deny this ḥadīth
