ʿAdī: "I only know it from Arṭāʾah from Ibn Jurayj." I said: And this Arṭāʾah is Ibn al-Mundhir, a Basran, known as Abū Ḥātim. Ibn ʿAdī mentioned two ḥadīths from him, this being one of them, and the other, he criticized its isnād, then said: "He has other ḥadīths besides what I mentioned, and in some of them, there are errors and mistakes." I have found another chain for it, narrated by ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Tammām from Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās with the wording: "No one among the people has bestowed upon me a greater favor in family and wealth than Abū Bakr." It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (11/348/11974). And this ʿUbayd Allāh is weak. There is a third chain narrated by Layth from Mujāhid from Ibn ʿAbbās with a similar wording. And a fourth from the narration of Jarīr: I heard ʿAlāʾ ibn Ḥakīm from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās with the wording: "There is no one among the people who has done more for me in his self and his wealth than Abū Bakr ibn Abī Quḥāfah, and if I were to take a close friend..." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (467), al-Ṭabarānī (11938), and Ibn Ḥibbān (6821 - al-Iḥsān). It has a supporting narration from the ḥadīth of Abū Ḥafṣ al-ʿAbdī from Mālik ibn Dīnār from Anas with a similar wording. Both were recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir. And two other authentic, concise supporting narrations from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah and ʿĀʾishah, recorded in "Aḥādīth Mushkilat al-Faqr" (number 13).
