from the ḥadīth of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mughaffal and Sahl ibn al-Ḥanẓaliyyah." As for the ḥadīth of Sahl, it is attributed in "al-Jāmiʿ" to al-Ḥasan ibn Sufyān, and al-Haythamī said (10/77): "In it is al-Mutawakkil ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the father of Muḥammad ibn Abī al-Sarī, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are trustworthy."

"I would not like that anyone has with me gold, that by the third night I have a dinar left except a dinar reserved for debt, unless I spend it on the servants of Allāh like this"—he scattered it in front of him—"and like this"—to his right—"and like this"—to his left." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (7/137), Muslim (3/75), and Aḥmad (5/152) from Zayd ibn Wahb from Abū Dharr as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. In another narration by al-Bukhārī: "I would not be pleased to have with me..." and it has been previously mentioned under number (1028). It has another chain with the wording: "I would not like to have the equivalent of Uḥud in gold—or he said: I would not like to have Uḥud in gold—that I leave a dinar or half a dinar on the day I die except for a creditor." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/160-161 and 176) and al-Khaṭīb (7/376) through the chain of Shuʿbah from ʿAmr ibn Murrah who said: I heard Suwayd ibn al-Ḥārith say: I heard Abū Dharr say: as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. The wording of al-Khaṭīb is: "I would not be pleased." Its chain includes the narrators of the six books, except for this Suwayd, and al-Bukhārī mentioned him without any criticism, followed by Ibn Abī Ḥātim.
