"No group sits remembering Allāh except that a caller from the heavens calls out to them: 'Rise, you have been forgiven, and your bad deeds have been turned into good deeds.'" It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (434) from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-Ziʾbaqī Abū Isḥāq, who reported to us from Maymūn ibn ʿAjlān from Maymūn ibn Sīyāh from Anas, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. And he said: "No one narrated it from Maymūn except Ismāʿīl." I said: He is trustworthy, one of the shaykhs of Yaʿqūb ibn Sufyān. He was mentioned in "his history" and said: "He was trustworthy, except that they criticized him for selling mercury." As for Maymūn ibn ʿAjlān, Ibn Abī Ḥātim (4/1/239) said about him from his father: "A shaykh." And it is strange that al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Lisān": "I do not know of any ḥadīth from him"! And he was followed by Maymūn ibn Mūsá al-Marāʾī, as Aḥmad (3/142) said: Muḥammad ibn Bakr reported to us, Maymūn al-Marāʾī informed us, Maymūn ibn Sīyāh narrated it. And this is a good isnād, if Allāh wills. Maymūn ibn Sīyāh, al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful but makes mistakes." And Maymūn al-Marāʾī is truthful. And al-Mundhirī said about the ḥadīth in "al-Targhīb" (2/233): "It was narrated by Aḥmad, and its narrators are relied upon in the authentic [collections] except for Maymūn al-Marāʾī - with the opening of the mīm and the rāʾ followed by an alif, attributed to Imruʾ al-Qays - and Abū Yaʿlá, al-Bazzār, and al-Ṭabarānī.
