ʿĀmir, and it is included in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (1288).

"Whatever Allāh gives you from the wealth of the ruler without asking or seeking it, then consume it and take possession of it." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/195 and 6/452) from Qays ibn Saʿd from a man who narrated to him from Abū al-Dardāʾ, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was asked about the wealth of the ruler, and he said: " and he mentioned it. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for the man who was not named. However, it has supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of al-Zuhrī from al-Sāʾib ibn Yazīd from Ḥuwayṭib ibn ʿAbd al-ʿUzzā, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Saʿdī informed me: "He came to ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) from Syria, and he said: Was it not reported to me that you work in one of the positions of the Muslims, and you are given a salary for it, but you do not accept it? He said: Yes, I have horses and slaves, and I am well off, and I want my work to be a charity for the Muslims. So ʿUmar said: If you intend what you intend, the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) used to give me wealth, and I would say: Give it to someone who is poorer than me, and he gave me wealth once, and I said to him: Give it to someone who is more in need than me, and he said: Whatever Allāh gives you from this wealth without asking or seeking it, then take it and possess it or give it in charity, and what is not, do not let your soul follow it." It was recorded by al-Bukhārī (13/128-132 - Fatḥ) and Muslim (3/98-99) and al-Nasāʾī (1/365) and al-Dārimī (1/388). And it has other routes from ʿUmar, one of them with al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (no. 83 - my verification) and some in "al-Irwāʾ" (3/364-365).
