for it is based on what is original in the ḥadīth of Ibn Lahīʿah, and he did not realize that it is from the narration of Ibn al-Mubārak from him, which is authentic!

"He is not one of us who imitates others. Do not imitate the Jews or the Christians, for the greeting of the Jews is a gesture with the fingers, and the greeting of the Christians is a gesture with the palm." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2696) from Ibn Lahīʿah from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb from his father from his grandfather, as a marfūʿ ḥadīth. And he said: "Its isnād is weak, and Ibn al-Mubārak narrated this ḥadīth from Ibn Lahīʿah but did not raise it [to the Prophet]." I said: I have found it through another route, recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Awsaṭ" (p. 267 - Ḥaram) from Abū al-Musayyib Salām ibn Muslim, who narrated to us from Layth ibn Saʿd from Yazīd ibn Abī Ḥabīb from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb with it. However, he said: "I think it is marfūʿ." And this isnād has trustworthy men except for Salām ibn Muslim, whom I do not know. He is not Salām ibn Muslim al-Baṣrī, who narrated from ʿAbd al-Karīm from Ibrāhīm, and from whom Mūsá ibn Ismāʿīl narrated, as in "al-Jarḥ wa-al-Taʿdīl" (2/1/261), for this one is of a higher generation than him, and it is he to whom al-Haythamī refers in "al-Majmaʿ" (8/39): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ', and in it is someone I do not know." But the ḥadīth came dispersed in ḥadīths that strengthen it, for the first part of it is supported by the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿAbbās who said: "When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) conquered Mecca, he said:
