(Gharīb al-ḥadīth): (al-Maʾmūmah): the head wound that reaches the mother of the head, which is the membrane that encloses the brain. (al-Jāʾifah): the stab wound that reaches the cavity, and by cavity here is meant anything with transformative power like the abdomen and the brain. (al-Munqilah): it is the one from which small bones are displaced and move from their places. And it is said: the one that displaces the bone, meaning it fractures it. Thus it is in "al-Nihāyah." Abū al-Ḥasan al-Sindī said: "Retaliation is negated due to the difficulty of its regulation."

- "Woe to them, and we seek Allāh's help against them." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/397) from Sufyān, from Abū Isḥāq, who said that some of our companions told me from Ḥudhayfah: "that the polytheists captured him and his father, and they took a pledge from them not to fight them on the day of Badr. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: "and he mentioned it. I said: Its narrators are trustworthy except for the one who was not named, and al-Aʿmash named him in his narration from Abū Isḥāq, saying: from Muṣʿab ibn Saʿd who said: "The polytheists captured Ḥudhayfah and his father before Badr, and they wanted to kill them, so they took from them Allāh's covenant and pledge that they would not assist against them. They swore to them, so they released them, and they came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and informed him,
