and you see that there is no mention of Sarīʿ in their [narrations]. The ḥadīth has supporting narrations from a group of Companions: the first is from Abū Umāmah al-Bāhilī, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording: "My Lord promised me seventy thousand..." the ḥadīth. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/250) from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAmr, from Sulaym ibn ʿĀmir al-Khubayrī and Abū al-Yamān al-Hawzanī from him. I say: Its isnād is authentic. Muḥammad ibn Ziyād al-Alhānī also followed them, saying: I heard Abū Umāmah with it. It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2439), Ibn Mājah (2/574), and also by Aḥmad, and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan gharīb ḥadīth." I say: Its isnād is authentic according to the people of Shām. The second is from Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān, raised [to the Prophet] with the wording of the chapter title in the midst of a ḥadīth. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/393). It includes Ibn Lahīʿah. The third is from Abū Ayyūb al-Anṣārī, raised [to the Prophet] similarly. It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/413). It also includes Ibn Lahīʿah. The fourth is from Abū Hurayrah, raised [to the Prophet] similarly. It was recorded by Aḥmad (2/359). I say: Its isnād is acceptable for supporting narrations.
