"a ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ gharīb."

- "Seventy thousand from my community will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment, with each thousand, seventy thousand more." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/280-281): Abū al-Yamān narrated to us, Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated from Ḍamḍam ibn Zurʿah: Shurayḥ ibn ʿUbayd said: "Thawbān fell ill in Ḥimṣ, and ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qurṭ al-Azdī was in charge there, but he did not visit him. A man from the Kalāʿī tribe entered to visit Thawbān, and Thawbān said to him: Do you write? He replied: Yes. So he said: Write, and he wrote to the commander ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qurṭ: From Thawbān, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), as for what follows, if Mūsá and ʿĪsá had a freed slave in your presence, you would have visited him. Then he folded the letter and said to him: Will you deliver it to him? He replied: Yes, and the man went with his letter and delivered it to Ibn Qurṭ. When he read it, he stood up in alarm, and the people said: What is the matter with him? Has something happened? He went to Thawbān until he entered upon him, visited him, and sat with him for a while, then he stood up. Thawbān took hold of his cloak and said: Sit until I tell you a ḥadīth I heard from the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), I heard him say: and he mentioned it. I say: This is a good isnād, its men are trustworthy, and the slight disagreement regarding Ḍamḍam does not harm as previously mentioned. There is also a difference of opinion regarding Shurayḥ hearing from Thawbān, which does not harm either because he is followed up as will be mentioned. It was also recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (1/71/1) from Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl, who said: My father narrated to me from Ḍamḍam ibn Zurʿah with it, except that he said: "from Shurayḥ ibn ʿUbayd from Abū Asmāʾ al-Raḥbī from Thawbān as marfūʿ." And Muḥammad ibn Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh is weak. (Note): al-Munāwī mentioned that the ḥadīth was narrated by Aḥmad and al-Ṭabarānī from the ḥadīth of Sarīʿ ibn ʿAbd Allāh from Thawbān
