I said: This is a good isnād, its men are the men of "al-Ṣaḥīḥ," and there is a difference of opinion regarding Maḥbūb—this is his nickname, and his name is Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Hilāl. The more correct view is that he is reliable in ḥadīth, and al-Bukhārī has narrated one ḥadīth from him.

"Cursed is the woman who scratches her face, tears her garment, and calls for woe and destruction." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah, number (1585), and Ibn Ḥibbān (737) from Abū Usāmah from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Yazīd ibn Jābir from Makhūl and al-Qāsim from Abū Umāmah that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) cursed... I said: This is a good isnād, its men are trustworthy, the men of Muslim, except for al-Qāsim who is Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Dimashqī, a companion of Abū Umāmah, and he is reliable in ḥadīth. Makhūl, who is trustworthy, was paired with him, so the ḥadīth should have been authenticated if it were not for the fact that he is a mudallis and has narrated it with ʿanʿanah.

"Cursed is the man who hides and the woman who hides." It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (8/270) through the route of Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāliḥ and Abū Qutaybah who narrated from Mālik from Abū al-Rijāl from ʿAmrah from ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) cursed... I said: This isnād is authentic according to the conditions of al-Bukhārī, and perhaps he did not include it due to the differences in its isnād. Al-Bayhaqī recorded it through the route of al-Shāfiʿī: Mālik informed us from Abū al-Rijāl from his mother ʿAmrah bint ʿAbd al-Raḥmān that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam)... And he said: "This is mursal and it is the correct version," and Ibn al-Turkumānī critiqued it saying: "In it, Yaḥyá ibn Ṣāliḥ is trustworthy, both al-Bukhārī and Muslim have narrated from him, and Abū Qutaybah Salm ibn Qutaybah..
