it was recorded by al-Bayhaqī. However, ʿAlī ibn ʿĀṣim is weak, and ʿAbd al-Razzāq contradicted him, saying (9044): from Ibn Jurayj who said: ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb said: Muḥammad performed ṭawāf around the House - his grandfather - with his father ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr ... and mentioned it similarly. Ibn Jurayj is a mudallis, and it is possible that the intermediary between him and ʿAmr ibn Saʿīd is al-Muthanná himself, so the ḥadīth is not strengthened by his route from ʿAmr, especially with this difference in its isnād from him. However, it is supported by what Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād narrated from Mujāhid from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ṣafwān who said: "When the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) conquered Mecca, I said ... so I will see what the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) does? I went and saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) had come out of the Kaʿbah, he and his Companions, and they had touched the House from the door to the Ḥaṭīm, and they had placed their cheeks on the House, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was among them." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd, al-Bayhaqī, and Aḥmad (3/431) and Ibn Abī Shaybah in his "Musnad" also (2/35/2). Its narrators are trustworthy except for this Yazīd - who is the Hāshimī, their client - who is weak in memory. I found a strong mawqūf witness for it, as ʿAbd al-Razzāq said (9047): from Ibn ʿUyaynah from ʿAbd al-Karīm al-Jazarī from Mujāhid who said: Ibn ʿAbbās said: "This is the Multazam between the corner and the door." I said: And this isnād is authentic. Then he narrated from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father: "that he would press his chest, hand, and stomach against the House."
