the men of the authentic [collection], as stated by al-Haythamī. There is also supporting evidence from the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, and it appears separately in different ḥadīths, so refer to "Irwāʾ al-Ghalīl" for them.

"He would exert himself in worship during the last ten [nights] more than at any other time." It was narrated by Muslim (3/176), al-Tirmidhī (1/152), Ibn Mājah (1767), and Aḥmad (6/82, 123, 256) from the ḥadīth of ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā) as a marfūʿ ḥadīth.

"He would sit cross-legged." It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (1/40/1) and Abū al-Shaykh (p. 267) from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Munīb from his grandfather from his father Abū Umāmah al-Ḥārithī, who said: and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is weak; this al-Munīb is the son of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Umāmah al-Ḥārithī. Al-Dhahabī, indicating his unknown status, said: "I know of no narrator from him except his son ʿAbd Allāh." However, there is a supporting narration reported by ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥassān al-ʿAnbarī, who said: My grandmothers Ṣafiyyah and Daḥībah, the daughters of ʿAlībah bint Ḥumlah—and they were the stepdaughters of Qaylah bint Makhramah—told me that Qaylah said: "I saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) sitting cross-legged, and when I saw the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) in such a humble posture, I trembled with fear." It was narrated by al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (no. 1178). I say: This isnād is ḥasan in supporting narrations; this al-ʿAnbarī was narrated from by a group of trustworthy narrators, including ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak, and al-Ḥāfiẓ said about him: "Acceptable."
