Hilāl ibn Khabbāb from ʿIkrimah from Ibn ʿAbbās in a marfūʿ form. Al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ ḥadīth." I said: Its isnād is ḥasan, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of the two Shaykhs, except for Hilāl ibn Khabbāb, who is trustworthy but had changed towards the end of his life.
"He used to stay behind during the journey, driving the weak and giving them a ride and praying for them." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (1/411) and al-Ḥākim (2/115) from al-Ḥajjāj ibn Abī ʿUthmān from Abū al-Zubayr that Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allāh narrated it to them in a marfūʿ form. Al-Ḥākim said: "Ṣaḥīḥ according to the conditions of Muslim," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I said: It is as they said, for Abū al-Zubayr explicitly stated the narration, thus we are safe from his tadlīs, and I have also included it in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (2372). (yuzjī): meaning he drives it to catch up with the group. (yurdif): meaning he made him his riding companion and let him ride behind him.
"He used to perform ablution from what the fire touched." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/321) from Muḥammad ibn Ṭaḥlāʾ who said: I said to Abū Salamah: Your foster brother Salīm does not perform ablution from what the fire touched? He said: Salīm struck his chest and said: I bear witness that Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam), used to testify about the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and mentioned it. I said: This isnād is good, its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of Muslim, except for Ibn Ṭaḥlāʾ, who is truthful. Al-Haythamī said in "al-Majmaʿ" (1/248):
