- "He used to command the changing of gray hair to differ from the non-Arabs." Narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" and ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī in "al-Sunan" (177/1) from al-Aḥwaṣ ibn Ḥakīm from his father from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ghābir from ʿUtbah ibn ʿAbd, attributed [to the Prophet]. I say: This isnād is weak, al-Aḥwaṣ ibn Ḥakīm has weak memory. And his father, Ḥakīm ibn ʿUmayr, is truthful but makes mistakes. It has a corroborating narration from Abū Hurayrah, recorded by Ibn ʿAsākir (2/353/1) from Bishr ibn ʿAmārah from al-Aḥwaṣ ibn Ḥakīm from Rāshid ibn Saʿd and Abū ʿAwn from Abū Hurayrah, attributed [to the Prophet]. I say: This is also weak because it relies on al-Aḥwaṣ, and you know his condition. And Bishr ibn ʿAmārah - who is al-Khathʿamī - is also weak; rather, al-Dāraqutnī said: "Abandoned." However, the ḥadīth is supported by his saying ﷺ: "The Jews and Christians do not dye [their hair], so differ from them." Agreed upon from the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah and it is recorded in "Takhrīj al-Ḥalāl" (no. 105).

- "He used to command his daughters and wives to go out on the two ʿĪds." Narrated by Aḥmad (1/231) from Ḥajjāj from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿĀbis from Ibn ʿAbbās, attributed [to the Prophet]. Similarly narrated by Ibn Abī Shaybah in "al-Muṣannaf" (2/182) except he said: "He would send out" instead of: "He used to command." I say: Its narrators are trustworthy except that this Ḥajjāj - who is Ibn Arṭāʾah - is a mudallis and has narrated with ʿanʿanah
