"al-Kashf": "It was narrated by al-Bazzār, and its narrators are trustworthy"! al-Nasāʾī narrated in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (329) and Ibn Ḥibbān (2145) from Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān from Thābit from Anas in a marfūʿ form: "He used to visit the Anṣār, greet their children, and wipe their heads." I said: Its isnād is authentic according to the conditions of Muslim, and greeting the children is confirmed in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" through another route from Anas (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu).

- "Dates infested with worms were brought to him, and he would inspect them, removing the pests from them." It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2/148) and from him by al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" (2/191/201) and Ibn Mājah (2/317) in a shortened form, as well as by Abū al-Shaykh (p. 221), all from Salm ibn Qutaybah from Hammām from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah from Anas ibn Mālik in a marfūʿ form. I said: This isnād is authentic according to the conditions of the two Shaykhs, and Hammām is Ibn Yaḥyá ibn Dīnār al-Azdī al-ʿAwadhī al-Muḥallamī, their client. Al-Bayhaqī criticized it for being mursal because he narrated it through the route of Muḥammad ibn Kathīr who informed us from Hammām from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah that the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was brought dates with worms, and he mentioned its meaning. I do not see that as a defect, because Salm ibn Qutaybah is more reliable than Muḥammad ibn Kathīr—the ʿAbdī—as is clearly evident to anyone who reviews the statements of the imams of criticism and validation about them in the books of men, especially since it includes an addition, and the addition of a trustworthy narrator is accepted here by consensus. It has been narrated from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) a prohibition against inspecting dates, but it is not authentic as I have clarified in "al-Ḍaʿīfah" (5228).
