Ḥibbān and ʿAbd al-Ḥaqq al-Ishbīlī, as I mentioned in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (1155). al-Ṭabarānī narrated (3/207/2) from Saʿīd ibn Rāshid, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Ibn ʿUmar that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) would not sit for an hour of the night except that he would use the siwāk on his mouth. Saʿīd ibn Rāshid, who is al-Sammāk, is abandoned as al-Nasāʾī said. He was followed by Ḥussām ibn al-Muṣakk, who narrated to us from ʿAṭāʾ with it, and his wording: "He would not wake up during the night for an hour except that he would pass the siwāk on his mouth." It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī (109/1). And this Ḥussām, al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥajar said: "Weak, almost abandoned." I say: thus, the basis for strengthening the ḥadīth is on the first path.

"He used to visit the weak among the Muslims, visit their sick, and attend their funerals." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/466) from Sufyān ibn Ḥusayn, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Umāmah ibn Sahl ibn Ḥunayf, from his father (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhu) as marfūʿ. He said: "Ṣaḥīḥ al-isnād," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him. I say: there is a consideration, for Sufyān ibn Ḥusayn was weakened in his narrations from al-Zuhrī specifically, and this is among them. However, it is supported by the ḥadīth of Muslim al-Aʿwar from Anas as marfūʿ: "He would visit the sick, follow the funerals, respond to the invitation of the servant, and ride the donkey."
