- "Permission was granted to women regarding leather socks." It was recorded by Aḥmad (6/35) from Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq, who said: Nāfiʿ told me, and his wife was a freed slave of ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar: She told him that ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar bought a slave girl on the way to Mecca, freed her, and ordered her to perform ḥajj with him. He sought two sandals for her but could not find them, so he cut two leather socks for her below the ankles. Ibn Isḥāq said: I mentioned this to Ibn Shihāb, who said: "Sālim ibn ʿAbd Allāh told me he used to do that, then Ṣafiyyah bint Abī ʿUbayd told him that ʿĀʾishah told her that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ (mentioned it) and then left it." I said: This isnād is good, all its men are trustworthy, the men of the two Shaykhs, except for Ibn Isḥāq, for whom Muslim recorded as corroborated by others.

- "When he would turn restlessly at night, he would say: There is no deity but Allāh, the One, the Overpowering, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Almighty, the Oft-Forgiving." It was recorded by Ibn Naṣr in "Qiyām al-Layl" (43), Ibn Ḥibbān (2358), al-Ḥākim (1/540), Ibn al-Sunnī in "ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-al-Laylah" (753), Ibn Mandah in "al-Tawḥīd" (66/1), and al-Sahmī in "Tārīkh Jurjān" (103), all from Yūsuf ibn ʿAdī: ʿAthām ibn ʿAlī al-ʿĀmirī narrated to us from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah from his father from ʿĀʾishah (raḍiya Allāhu ʿanhā), who said: He mentioned it as marfūʿ, and al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs!" and al-Dhahabī agreed! I said: It is only according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī alone, for those below Hishām were not recorded by Muslim.
