Second, there is disagreement about him, and for this reason, al-Dhahabī mentioned him in "al-Mīzān" and said: "Ibn Maʿīn and others declared him trustworthy, but Abū Dāwūd said: weak in ḥadīth." al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "Truthful and knowledgeable in fiqh, but he made mistakes." I said: A ḥadīth of someone like him should be considered ḥasan, but not ṣaḥīḥ. In "Majmaʿ al-Zawāʾid" (10/135): "al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in 'al-Kabīr' and 'al-Awsaṭ,' and its men are the men of ṣaḥīḥ except al-Mughīrah ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and he is trustworthy."
