"I know nothing but good." Ibn Ḥibbān mentioned him in "al-Thiqāt." It is in "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" from the ḥadīth of Anas with the first part similar to it and added: "in full."

"When he was anxious for news, he would recite the verse of Ṭarafah: 'And news will come to you from one you did not provide for.'" Aḥmad narrated it (6/31 and 146) with a sound isnād from al-Shaʿbī from ʿĀʾishah who said: so he mentioned it. I said: But al-Shaʿbī did not hear from ʿĀʾishah as al-Ḥākim and others said. However, it is strengthened by another route, narrated by Sharīk from al-Miqdām ibn Shurayḥ from his father from her, who said: "It was said to her: Did the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) recite any poetry? She said: He would recite the poetry of Ibn Rawāḥah, and he would recite and say: ..." so he mentioned it. Aḥmad narrated it (6/138, 156, and 222), and al-Bukhārī in "al-Adab al-Mufrad" (867), and al-Tirmidhī in "al-Shamāʾil" (p. 146) and "al-Sunan" (2/138), and al-Baghawī in "al-Jaʿdiyyāt" (103/2), and al-Ṭaḥāwī in "al-Mushkil" (4/297), and al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." Thus he said, and perhaps he considered both its routes, otherwise Sharīk - who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Qāḍī - has poor memory.
