"the mother of Bishr ibn al-Barāʾ ibn Maʿrūr entered upon the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) during his illness in which he passed away, and he was feverish. She touched him and said: 'I have not found such a fever as yours on anyone.' The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: and he mentioned it." I said: This isnād is very weak; all its men are trustworthy according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs except for Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar, who is al-Wāqidī, and he is accused of lying. However, the ḥadīth has two supporting narrations: the first is from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, who said: "A man placed his hand on the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: 'By Allāh, I cannot bear to place my hand on you due to the severity of your fever.' The Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said: 'We, the group of prophets, our trials are multiplied for us as our rewards are multiplied. There was a prophet among the prophets who was afflicted with lice until it killed him, and there was a prophet among the prophets who was afflicted with poverty until he took a cloak and cut it to make it like a pocket, and they would rejoice in trials as you rejoice in ease.'" It was recorded by Aḥmad (3/94): ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, informing us from Maʿmar from Zayd ibn Aslam from a man from him. This isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy except for the man who is not named. However, Hishām ibn Saʿd named him, saying: from Zayd ibn Aslam from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī with it. It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/490) and al-Aṣbahānī in "al-Targhīb" (folio 60/2), and he said: "(yajūbuhā): meaning he cuts it and makes it like a pocket." Al-Būṣīrī said in "al-Zawāʾid" (245/1): "This isnād is authentic; its men are trustworthy." I said: Al-Ḥākim also authenticated it, and al-Dhahabī, as mentioned earlier in number (144), but it is only ḥasan due to the well-known criticism of Hishām ibn Saʿd. Yes, it is authentic with the supporting narration that follows, and another that was mentioned earlier
