and this is a weak isnād, filled with defects: The first: al-Ḥārith, who is Ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Aʿwar. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: "al-Shaʿbī accused him of lying in his opinion and charged him with rejection, and his ḥadīth is weak." I say: but Ibn al-Madīnī accused him of lying outright. The second: Abū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī, who is trustworthy but, despite his confusion, is a mudallis, and he narrated it with ʿanʿanah. They mentioned in his biography that he only heard four ḥadīths from al-Ḥārith, and the rest are from a book. The third and fourth: Qays—who is Ibn al-Rabīʿ—and Salām ibn Sulaymān—who is al-Madāʾinī al-Ḍarīr—are both weak. However, it seems there is another path, as al-Sakhāwī mentioned it in "al-Qawl al-Badīʿ" (p. 223 - Beirut) from the narration of al-Bayhaqī in "al-Shuʿab" and Abū al-Qāsim al-Taymī and others from al-Ḥārith al-Aʿwar from ʿAlī in a similar marfūʿ form. And he said: "al-Aʿwar was weakened by the majority, but it was narrated from Aḥmad ibn Ṣāliḥ that he considered him trustworthy." I say: he did not attribute any defect to it other than al-Aʿwar, but he mentioned a corroborator, saying: "And it was also narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ' and al-Bayhaqī in 'al-Shuʿab' from the narration of al-Ḥārith and ʿĀṣim ibn Ḍamrah from ʿAlī. And it was also narrated by al-Ṭabarānī and al-Harawī in his 'Dhamm al-Kalām,' and Abū al-Shaykh and al-Daylamī through his path, and also by al-Bayhaqī in 'al-Shuʿab,' all of them in a mawqūf form with a summary: 'Every supplication is veiled until prayers are sent upon Muḥammad and the family of Muḥammad (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam).' And the mawqūf is more likely." Al-Haythamī said in this context (10/160): "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ,' and its men are trustworthy." I say: and it is considered marfūʿ because such a statement would not be said from personal opinion, as al-Sakhāwī said
