Bakr. However, the ḥadīth is authentic, as it has been reported separately in different ḥadīths. The phrase "eat it" is found in both "the two Ṣaḥīḥs" from Jābir in the singular form, and in "al-Tirmidhī" and others from Umm Ayyūb in the plural form. It will appear along with the previous one under number (2784). The rest of it has a supporting narration from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah with an authentic chain from him, and it is included in "Iṣlāḥ al-Masājid" number (71).
بكر هذا. لكن الحديث صحيح، فقد جاء مفرقا في أحاديث، فقوله "كلوه " ورد في " الصحيحين " عن جابر بلفظ الإفراد، وفي " الترمذي " وغيره عن أم أيوب بلفظ الجمع، وسيأتي هو والذي قبله برقم (٢٧٨٤). وسائره له شاهد من حديث المغيرة بن شعبة بسند صحيح عنه، وهو مخرج في " إصلاح المساجد " رقم (٧١).

"Every person is predisposed to what they were created for." It was recorded by al-Ḥākim (2/462) and Aḥmad (6/441) from Abū al-Rabīʿ Sulaymān ibn ʿUtbah from Yūnus ibn Maysarah ibn Ḥalbas from Abū Idrīs from Abū al-Dardāʾ: "They said, 'O Messenger of Allāh! What about what we do, is it something that has been decreed, or something we initiate?' He said, 'Rather, it is something that has been decreed.' They said, 'Then what about action, O Messenger of Allāh?' He said," and he mentioned it. I say: This chain is good as previously explained in ḥadīth (514). As for al-Ḥākim, he said, "Authentic chain!" and al-Dhahabī refuted it by saying, "I say: Rather, Ibn Maʿīn said about Sulaymān ibn ʿUtbah: He is nothing." I say: This critique is excessive because Ibn ʿUtbah is disputed over, as we mentioned there, and al-Dhahabī himself, when he mentioned him in "al-Mīzān," said: "Duhaym deemed him reliable, and Ibn Maʿīn weakened him. Ṣāliḥ Jazrah said: He narrated oddities, yet he was deemed reliable." I say: Those who deemed him reliable are more knowledgeable about him than others, as they are from Damascus, like Duhaym, and among them is Abū Mushir. Even Abū Ḥātim—despite his strictness—said about him: "There is no harm in him, and he is commendable among the people of Damascus."
- " كل امرئ مهيأ لما خلق له ". أخرجه الحاكم (٢ / ٤٦٢) وأحمد (٦ / ٤٤١) عن أبي الربيع سليمان بن عتبة عن يونس بن ميسرة بن حلبس عن أبي إدريس عن أبي الدرداء: " قالوا: يا رسول الله! أرأيت ما نعمل أمر قد فرغ منه، أم أمر نستأنفه؟ قال: بل أمر قد فرغ منه، قالوا: فكيف العمل يا رسول الله؟ قال: " فذكره. قلت: وهذا إسناد حسن كما سبق بيانه في الحديث (٥١٤) وأما الحاكم فقال: "صحيح الإسناد "! ورده الذهبي بقوله: " قلت: بل قال ابن معين في سليمان بن عتبة: لا شيء ". قلت: وفي هذا التعقب إجحاف لأن ابن عتبة مختلف فيه كما ذكرنا هناك والذهبي نفسه لما أورده في " الميزان " قال: " وثقه دحيم، ووهاه ابن معين، وقال صالح جزرة: روى مناكير، وقد وثق ". قلت: الذين وثقوه أعرف به من غيره، فإنهم دمشقيون، مثل دحيم، ومنهم أبو مسهر بل إن أبا حاتم - على تشدده - قد قال فيه: " ليس به بأس، وهو محمود عند الدمشقيين ".
