"slaughter with anything that cuts the jugular veins, except for teeth and nails." Al-Haythamī said: "It was narrated by al-Ṭabarānī in 'al-Awsaṭ,' and it includes ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ḥarāsh, whom Ibn Ḥibbān deemed trustworthy but said he sometimes made mistakes, and the majority considered him weak." The other: the ḥadīth of Rāfiʿ ibn Khadīj as marfūʿ with the wording: "Whatever causes blood to flow and the name of Allāh is mentioned over it, eat it, except for teeth and nails." It was recorded by the two Shaykhs and others, and it is referenced in 'al-Irwāʾ' (8/165/2522).

"Eat in the name of Allāh from around it and leave its head, for the blessing comes to it from above." It was recorded by Ibn Mājah (2/305) through the route of Abū Ḥafṣ ʿUmar ibn al-Darfas, who narrated to me from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Qasīmah from Wāthilah ibn al-Asqaʿ al-Laythī, who said: "The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) took the head of the tharīd and said:" and he mentioned it. I say: This isnād is weak; its narrators are trustworthy except for ʿUmar ibn al-Darfas, who is unknown as mentioned in 'al-Taqrīb.' However, he was followed up, as ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak said: Ibn Lahīʿah informed us, saying: Yazīd ibn Ḥabīb narrated to me that Rabīʿah ibn Yazīd al-Dimashqī informed him from Wāthilah, meaning Ibn al-Asqaʿ, who said: "I was with the people of al-Ṣuffah, and the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) one day called for a loaf, broke it into a bowl, added hot water to it, then added fat, then stirred it, then mixed it, then seasoned it, and then said: Go and bring me ten, you being the tenth of them, so I brought them, and he said:" and he mentioned something similar without the basmalah, and they ate from it until they were full."
