I said: The version that is stopped [at the Companion] was recorded by al-Dārimī (1/126-127), Ibn Saʿd in "al-Ṭabaqāt" (7/22), Abū Khaythamah in "al-ʿIlm" (no. 120 - in my verification), al-Ṭabarānī in "al-Kabīr" (1/62/2), al-Ḥākim in "al-Mustadrak" (1/106), al-Khaṭīb in "al-Taqyīd" (pp. 96, 97), and Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr through various routes from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Muthanná al-Anṣārī as stopped. Al-Ḥākim and al-Dhahabī authenticated it. I said: There is a consideration in this because although this ʿAbd Allāh is among the narrators of al-Bukhārī, there has been criticism of him, as both al-Dhahabī himself in "al-Mīzān" and al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Tahdhīb" discussed him, summarizing it in "al-Taqrīb" by saying: "Truthful, but makes many mistakes." The other route: I have found another route for it, better than this one, narrated by Ismāʿīl ibn Abī Uways from Ismāʿīl ibn Ibrāhīm, the nephew of Mūsá ibn ʿUqbah, from al-Zuhrī from Anas as elevated. It was recorded by Abū Muḥammad al-Mukhlidī in "al-Fawāʾid" (245/2), Abū Nuʿaym in "Akhbār Aṣbahān" (2/228), and al-Qaḍāʿī in "Musnad al-Shihāb" (53/2) through various routes from him. I said: This isnād is good, and all its men are according to the conditions of al-Bukhārī. If it were not for the criticism of Ibn Abī Uways's memory, I would have authenticated it, as al-Ḥāfiẓ said in "al-Taqrīb": "Truthful, but made mistakes in some ḥadīths from his memory."
