I said: Where are you two intending to go, may Allāh have mercy on you? They said: We intend to go here, to visit our sick brother. So I went with them until we entered upon that man, and they said to him: How are you this morning? He said: I am in the grace and favor of Allāh. Shaddād said: Rejoice, for I heard the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) say: and he mentioned it. I said: And this is a good isnād, if Allāh wills, its men are trustworthy, and there is a difference of opinion regarding Rāshid ibn Dāwūd - who is al-Ṣanʿānī al-Dimashqī. He was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Maʿīn, Duhaym, and Ibn Ḥibbān. Al-Bukhārī said: "There is a consideration about him." Al-Dāraqutnī said: "Weak, not to be relied upon." Al-Ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb" said: "Truthful but has delusions." I said: So someone like him is good in ḥadīth if he does not narrate something objectionable, and this ḥadīth has well-known supporting evidence, and some of it has already been mentioned, so see for example ḥadīth (272). (Note): Al-Munāwī said: Al-Haythamī said: "All of them reported it from the narration of Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh from Rāshid al-Ṣanʿānī, and he is weak when narrating from non-Shāmīs. End of quote. The author did not mind this and indicated its goodness." I said: Al-Haythamī and then al-Munāwī missed that this Rāshid is not from Ṣanʿāʾ, Yemen, but rather from Ṣanʿāʾ, Damascus, and therefore they mentioned that he is Damascene. So the weakening of the ḥadīth based on what they mentioned is a pure error, so be aware.

- "Allāh, the Exalted, said: If I take away the two beloved things of My servant - and he is patient with them - I will not be pleased with a reward for him less than Paradise, if he praises Me for it." It was narrated by Abū Nuʿaym in "al-Ḥilyah" (6/103) from Baqiyyah from Abū Bakr ibn Abī Maryam who said: Ḥabīb ibn ʿUbayd narrated from al-ʿIrbāḍ ibn Sāriyah as a marfūʿ ḥadīth
