" my father and al-Faḍl ibn Shādhān narrated from him. He was asked about him, and he said: 'Truthful.' " As for ʿAlī ibn Saʿīd, he is a well-known ḥāfiẓ mentioned in "al-Mīzān" and "al-Lisān" and other works, and there is a slight criticism about him that does not lower his ḥadīth from the level of ḥasan. In summary, the connected ḥadīth of Ibn Zurārah is strengthened by these two corroborations, especially the latter of them, thus dispelling the doubt that he might have erred in connecting it. If it were not for the slight weakness in the memory of Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr, I would have judged the ḥadīth as authentic. Perhaps he himself sometimes connected it and sometimes narrated it as mursal, so each reported what he heard from him, and the ruling is for the addition, especially since the last part of it—although it did not appear in these two corroborations—has a witness from the ḥadīth of Zayd ibn Arqam, which was previously extracted under number (1164), and it has another route from Abū Hurayrah, which I extracted in "Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd" (1286).

- "Fāṭimah is a part of me; what distresses her distresses me, and what pleases her pleases me. Indeed, on the Day of Resurrection, all lineages will be severed except my lineage, my kinship, and my marriage ties." It was recorded by Aḥmad (4/323) and through his route by al-Ḥākim (3/158) from the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Jaʿfar. Umm Bakr bint al-Miswar ibn Makhramah narrated to us from ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Abī Rāfiʿ from al-Miswar: "Ḥasan ibn Ḥusayn sent to him asking for his daughter's hand in marriage. He said to him: Tell him to meet me at night. He met him, and al-Miswar praised and extolled Allāh, then said: As for what follows, by Allāh, there is no lineage, kinship, or marriage tie closer to me than your lineage and marriage tie, but the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said (and he mentioned it), and you have her daughter, and if I were to marry you to her, that would distress her, so he left excusing him." Al-Ḥākim said: "Authentic isnād," and al-Dhahabī agreed with him! This is surprising from him, as Umm Bakr is unknown, by the testimony of al-Dhahabī himself, as he mentioned her in the section "The Unknown Women," and said:
