"O people, indeed I am your guardian." They said: "You have spoken the truth, O Messenger of Allāh." Then he took the hand of ʿAlī and raised it, saying: "This is my guardian, and he will fulfill my obligations, and I am an ally to whoever allies with him and an enemy to whoever opposes him." This was recorded by al-Nasāʾī in "Khaṣāʾiṣ ʿAlī" (p. 3) and al-Bazzār in "Musnad" (p. 266), and he said: "We do not know it to be narrated from ʿĀʾishah bint Saʿd from her father except through this route, and it is not known to be narrated by al-Muhājir from ʿĀʾishah bint Saʿd from her father except this." I said: Its narrators are trustworthy, although Mūsá ibn Yaʿqūb, who is al-Zamʿī, has poor memory as mentioned by the ḥāfiẓ in "al-Taqrīb." I said: When this is combined with what came before, the ḥadīth collectively reaches the level of ḥasan, if Allāh wills. (Note) None of these routes specify the location where he, peace and blessings be upon him, spoke this ḥadīth, except for what is in the ḥadīth of Saʿd that it was "on the day of al-Juḥfah," and except for what is in the narration of Ibn ʿAsākir (12/150/2) through the route of Jubayr ibn Hārūn: Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd informed us, Ḥakkām informed us from ʿAnbasah from Abū Isḥāq from Ḥubshī with his previous ḥadīth, and he added at the end: "He said it during the Farewell Pilgrimage." I said: This addition is objectionable because this route is unique in mentioning it, unlike the previous routes from Abū Isḥāq. And in this is Muḥammad ibn Ḥumayd, who is al-Rāzī, and he is weak due to poor memory. As for Jubayr ibn Hārūn, I did not find a biography for him. And I do not rule out that this addition is due to the poor memory of al-Rāzī, for in the previous narration of Isrāʾīl with Aḥmad, there is another addition in the wording:
