the first: from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī in a marfūʿ form similar to the ḥadīth of Abū Hurayrah from the other chain. It was also recorded by Aḥmad (3/29) from Ibn Lahīʿah, who narrated to us from Darāj, from Abū al-Haytham, from him. You have already known the condition of Ibn Lahīʿah and his teacher earlier. the second: from Abū Dharr that the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) was sitting, and two sheep were butting heads, and one of them knocked the other down, causing it to miscarry. He said: The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) laughed, and it was said to him: What makes you laugh, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: "I am amazed by it, by Him in whose hand is my soul, it will surely be recompensed on the Day of Judgment." It was recorded by Aḥmad (5/173) from Layth, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Tharwān, from al-Hudhail ibn Sharḥabīl, from him. This isnād is good for supporting evidences and follow-ups; its narrators are trustworthy, men of "the Ṣaḥīḥ," except for Layth, who is Ibn Abī Sulaym, weak due to his confusion, but he was followed up, as it was narrated by Mundhir al-Thawrī from his shaykhs (and in their narration) from Abū Dharr in a shortened form, and it includes: "O Abū Dharr! Do you know why they are butting heads? He said: No. He said: But Allāh knows, and He will judge between them." It was also recorded by Aḥmad (5/162). I say: This isnād is authentic in my view, for all its narrators are trustworthy, men of the two Shaykhs, except for the shaykhs who were not named, who are a group of the tābiʿīn. Ignorance of their condition is excused due to their agreement on narrating this ḥadīth, and the statement in the first narration: "his shaykhs" does not detract from this, as there is no contradiction between the two narrations because the lesser is included in the greater, and the addition of a trustworthy narrator is accepted. This other narration was hidden from al-Haythamī, who said after the lengthy and shortened narration:
