Abū Bakr al-Kalābādhī said in "Miftāḥ al-Maʿānī" (50/1, ḥadīth number 52): It was read to Abū Naṣr Muḥammad ibn Ḥamdawayh ibn Sahl al-Muṭawwiʿī—in Muḥarram of the year three hundred and twenty-eight in the house of Bakkār while he was looking into his book—it was said: Maḥmūd ibn Ādam narrated to you, saying: Sufyān ibn ʿUyaynah narrated to us from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār with it, except that he said: "when asked about the lean cows, how did he inform them until they brought them out." This is a strong corroboration and a good chain of transmission, for Ibn ʿUyaynah is a trustworthy and reliable memorizer. And Maḥmūd ibn Ādam, who is al-Marwazī, is trustworthy. Ibn Abī Ḥātim said (4/1/290-291): "He wrote to my father, Abū Zurʿah, and to me, and he was trustworthy and truthful." Abū Naṣr al-Muṭawwiʿī is among the teachers of al-Dāraquṭnī and he said: "He is trustworthy and a memorizer." Thus, the ḥadīth is established, and all praise is due to Allāh. The ḥadīth has also come in a similar manner from the narration of Abū Hurayrah, and it has passed under number (1867), and in some of its paths, there is the addition at the end of the ḥadīth, which was disapproved by the ḥāfiẓ Ibn Kathīr as previously explained there.

- "Fast on behalf of your sister." It was recorded by al-Ṭayālisī in "Musnad" (2630): Shuʿbah narrated to us from al-Aʿmash, who said: I heard Muslim al-Baṭīn narrating from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr from Ibn ʿAbbās: "A woman came to the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and mentioned to him that her sister had vowed to fast for a month and that she embarked on a sea journey and died without fasting. The Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) said..." and he mentioned it
