and this Kathīr is Ibn Qulayb ibn Wahb al-Baṣrī, and he has been distinguished from Kathīr ibn Murrah ibn Yūnus, and the ḥāfiẓ followed this distinction, saying about the first: trustworthy, and about the latter: acceptable. 2 - Ibn Shāhīn narrated in "al-Ṣaḥābah" from a weak chain through Abān ibn Abī ʿAyyāsh - one of the abandoned narrators - from Anas that Abū Fāṭimah al-Anṣārī came to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam) and said: and he mentioned the third section about fasting, as stated in "al-Iṣābah" by Ibn Ḥajar. However, this section has a sound witness from the ḥadīth of Abū Umāmah, raised similarly. It was narrated by al-Nasāʾī and authenticated by Ibn Khuzaymah, Ibn Ḥibbān, and al-Ḥākim, and it is referenced in "Takhreej al-Targhīb" (2/61-62) and also narrated by al-Ṭabarānī (7463-7465) with a sound chain. 3 - Ibn Mājah narrated (1/435) through the route of al-Walīd ibn Muslim, who narrated to us from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Thābit ibn Thawbān from his father from Makhūl from Kathīr ibn Murrah that Abū Fāṭimah narrated to him, saying: "I said: O Messenger of Allāh, inform me of an action I can adhere to and perform, he said: adhere to prostration...." and so on. I said: And this isnād is good as al-Mundhirī stated (1/145). It was also narrated by Aḥmad (3/428) and al-Dūlābī in "al-Kuná" (1/48) through the route of Ibn Lahīʿah, who said: Ḥārith ibn Yazīd narrated to us from Kathīr al-Aʿraj al-Ṣudfī, who said: I heard Abū Fāṭimah while we were at Dhī al-Fawārī saying: and he mentioned it raised with the wording: "O Abū Fāṭimah, increase in prostration..." the ḥadīth without the phrase: "and it will erase a sin from you." I said: And its men are trustworthy except for Kathīr, who is Ibn Qulayb, al-Dhahabī said: "An Egyptian unknown." And it was said: he is Kathīr ibn Murrah mentioned in the previous route.
