- "The magnitude of the reward is proportional to the magnitude of the trial, and when Allāh loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is content will have contentment, and whoever is displeased will have displeasure." It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2/64), Ibn Mājah (4031), and Abū Bakr al-Bazzār ibn Najīḥ in "The Second of His Ḥadīth" (227/2) from Saʿd ibn Sinān from Anas from the Prophet (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam). Al-Tirmidhī said: "A good and rare ḥadīth." I say: Its chain is good; all its narrators are trustworthy, the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, except for Ibn Sinān, who is reliable but has unique narrations, as mentioned in "Taqrīb." This ḥadīth indicates an additional matter beyond what was previously mentioned, which is that trials are indeed good, and the one who endures them is beloved by Allāh, if he is patient with Allāh's trial and content with Allāh's decree. This is supported by the following ḥadīth: "I am amazed at the affair of the believer, for his affair is all good. If something he loves befalls him, he praises Allāh and it is good for him, and if something he dislikes befalls him and he is patient, it is good for him. Not everyone has an affair that is all good except the believer."

They said: 'O Messenger of Allāh! What makes you laugh?' He said: 'So he mentioned it.'" I say: This chain is authentic according to the criteria of Muslim, and it has been included in his "Ṣaḥīḥ" (8/
