172, 174, 180, 185) and al-Ḍiyāʾ in "al-Mukhtārah" (1/349) from the path of ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdalah, who reported from Muṣʿab ibn Saʿd, from his father, who said: "I said to the Messenger of Allāh (ṣallá Allāhu ʿalayhi wa-sallam): Who among the people is tested the most severely? He said: The prophets, then ... ?" the ḥadīth. al-Tirmidhī said: "A ḥadīth that is ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ." I say: This is a good isnād; all its narrators are those of the two Shaykhs, except that ʿĀṣim was only reported alongside others and did not narrate it alone. It was also reported by Ibn Ḥibbān (698) and al-Muḥāmilī (3/92/2) and al-Ḥākim from the path of al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Musayyib from his father from Saʿd with it, in the second narration. al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Musayyib and his father are trustworthy narrators from the narrators of al-Bukhārī. Thus, the ḥadīth is authentic. All praise is due to Allāh, and it has a supporting narration with the wording: "The people most severely tested are the prophets, then the righteous. One of them might be tested with poverty until he finds nothing but the cloak he wraps himself in, and one of them would rejoice in trials as one of you rejoices in ease."
