"truthful, but makes many mistakes." However, the ḥadīth has been transmitted through other chains from Abū Hurayrah in a marfūʿ form with similar wording, including: "The heart of an old man remains young in love for two things..." and the rest is similar. It was recorded by Muslim (3/99) and Aḥmad (2/443). In another narration by him (2/443 and 447): "... accumulation of wealth and long life." In another (2/501): "... love of life and love of wealth." In another by him (2/358, 379, 380, and 394): "... long life and abundance of wealth." It was also recorded by al-Tirmidhī (2/54) who authenticated it, Ibn Mājah (4233), and al-Ḥākim (4/328) who said: "Authentic according to the conditions of the two shaykhs!" Al-Bukhārī recorded it (4/212) with the wording: "The heart of an old person remains young in two things: love of the world and long hope." There is a corroborating narration from Anas in a marfūʿ form: "The son of Adam grows old, but two things remain young with him: greed for wealth and greed for life." It was recorded by Muslim, al-Tirmidhī who authenticated it, Ibn Mājah, Aḥmad (3/192 and 256), and Abū Yaʿlá (2/755, 827)
